Housing for health teams, a hall for Opatoro.
Community Health Partnership–Honduras relies on visiting medical and dental teams, but housing volunteers in Opatoro required dependable space that could also serve the town between brigades. Casa Benito answers with a two-story facility planned for as many as 27 guests, including bedrooms, bathrooms, a shared kitchen, and dining areas. The larger communal spaces are deliberately not reserved for visitors alone: town meetings, celebrations, and other local events can use the building when health teams are not in residence. That dual purpose makes the project more than lodging and helps each square foot remain useful throughout the year.
Journeyman International supported the design and site-planning work, including the practical realities of grading and construction on the property. The archive documents active planning and site-remediation estimates but does not establish a completed building, so the project is presented as proposed volunteer housing. Its strongest idea is reciprocity—an operational base for outreach that also gives Opatoro a flexible, shared civic room.
