Edinaman Community Village explored aquaponics as a way to produce fish and vegetables with less water and land than conventional systems may require. The concept links tanks and growing beds so nutrient-rich water from fish production feeds plants and returns through a managed cycle. That relationship makes the project both productive infrastructure and a training tool: operators can see how water quality, feeding, plant health, and maintenance affect one another.

Journeyman International’s work focused on adapting small-scale system ideas to the proposed Nigerian site and the livelihoods of people expected to use them, rather than treating aquaponics as a technology that succeeds without local knowledge. The surviving archive is preliminary and includes siting guidance rather than a final design book, so no completed installation is claimed. The project remains a development study whose central value is systems thinking—use a compact demonstration to build practical skill, diversify food production, and test whether a resource-efficient growing method can be maintained and expanded locally.
