The story

A library becomes the next chapter of a growing early-learning campus.

After establishing its early-childhood program, KomezaLife began planning a community library and broader improvements to the ECEC campus in Bugesera. The library is intended to give young children regular contact with books while also welcoming parents, educators, and neighbors into the life of the center. Reading areas, child-scaled shelves, storytelling space, and shaded outdoor learning are organized as parts of one experience rather than a formal room children enter only at set times. The master-plan work also studies circulation, landscape, future buildings, and how existing programs can grow without losing the intimate scale important to early learning.

Journeyman International’s design process is grounded in local research and partner input, translating a program already operating into the next phase of its physical home. The archive documents current design work, not a completed library. Its strength is continuity: a new building does not replace the community KomezaLife has built; it gives that community more ways to read, gather, and imagine together.
