One Help One Direction Ihumure began by meeting immediate needs of children affected by poverty and family conflict, then recognized the need for deeper mental-health and family support. The proposed center in Nzove brings counseling, relational therapy, family-strengthening programs, and practical assistance into one trauma-informed setting. The design must offer discreet arrival, private conversation, predictable circulation, calm sensory conditions, and choices between shared and quiet space. Outdoor areas and family rooms support connection without forcing disclosure or participation.

Journeyman International’s process started with detailed questions about operating hours, nighttime use, comparable programs, and the partner’s experience—evidence that the building should follow care practice rather than dictate it. The archive documents design inquiry and planning, not construction. Its architectural goal is modest but important: give OHODI a dependable home where children and families can experience safety, rebuild relationships, and retain agency, without being defined by crisis or separated from their community.
