A home for older adults begins with climate, dignity, and daily care.
The Elderly House proposal for the Boystown Complex in Parang responds to a need that is often overlooked in rapidly growing Metro Manila: supportive space where older adults can live with comfort, connection, and appropriate care. The design team began with a broad context study of heat, humidity, heavy rain, air quality, transport, local materials, and the social patterns of Filipino family and community life. Those conditions point toward shaded outdoor rooms, cross-ventilation, protected circulation, accessible movement, and places where residents can be together without losing privacy.
The facility was conceived as a home and wellness environment rather than an institutional ward, with daily routines, gardens, rest, and companionship guiding the architecture. The reviewed archive contains context research but not a final design book or construction record, so detailed program and completion cannot be confirmed. This remains a proposal whose most important standard is humane: care should be evident not only in services, but in every threshold, pathway, seat, and shared space.
