A safer arena rebuilds confidence as well as community space.
Ubumwe Arena begins with a difficult history: an earlier attempt to build the gathering hall failed during construction. Peace Outreach Initiatives returned to the project with a broader goal - create a safe, resilient campus where sport, education, dialogue, faith, culture, and everyday enterprise can reinforce one another. The new proposal organizes a flexible multipurpose arena with an early-childhood center, community housing, small commercial kiosks, shaded landscape, and clear public circulation across the Bumbogo site. Durable, locally appropriate materials reduce maintenance, while natural daylight, cross-ventilation, accessible routes, and adaptable rooms allow the campus to serve different groups and events without depending on one fixed use.
The architecture does not erase what happened; it answers that experience with clearer structure, careful coordination, and a plan that can be reviewed before construction resumes. The design package is complete, but the reviewed archive does not verify a new build. Ubumwe remains a project in development - one grounded in the belief that rebuilding trust begins with making the next step safer and more useful.
